Double Lace Braid into Side Braid | Rihanna Hairstyles
We first saw this hairstyle on Rihanna from a red carpet shoot last year. My girls always receive so many compliments anytime we wear it, but it is tough to explain to moms on the spot… which is why we created this tutorial!
The hairstyle uses two Lace Braids on either side coming down over the ears {literally} and combining in the back.

{If you do not understand how to follow the Lace Braid technique, please see our detailed Same-Side Lace Braid.}
From there, you take all remaining hair and braid it into a large side braid.

You can accessorize the braid if you wish, but we actually think it is beautiful simply left as is!

This hairstyle is perfect for women and girls of all ages… and would be particularly beautiful for Prom, Homecoming, or any other formal occasion.
Enjoy!
Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 1 clear hair elastic, hairspray {if desired}.
2.) Rapunzel Braid Tutorial on the DisneyStyle YouTube Channel!
For this hairstyle, I show you how to recreate the Rapunzel Braid from Disney’s Tangled first in a practical every day use of the braid… and then we dress it up with real flowers to get the Rapunzel look from the movie.

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 4 hair elastics, hairspray, decorative hair clip or fresh flowers {if desired}.
Time Requirement: 10-15 minutes
3.)
This style uses a French Braided Headband as the base before adding in the bows. If you do not know how to do a French headband, you can learn how to do so by clicking our French Front hairstyle tutorial.
In this tutorial, I only sectioned enough hair for four bows, but you can actually do more if you would like. My personal opinion it that this hairstyle looks better with only a few bows on one side, more like an accent to the style, rather than bows all across the front.
I have worn this hairstyle three times in the past two weeks, and cannot tell you how many times moms stopped me wherever we were to ask how I did it! Thankfully, I have this website where I can refer them!
Items Needed: A brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, hairspray or pomade, a hairpin (not a bobby pin), and one hair elastic.
Time Requirement: 5-10 minutes.

1.)
I first noticed a variation of this on Kendall Jenner from the Kardashians, only in the photo she wore cornrows {braids} instead of twists. There are a few other stars who rock this look as well.
I prefer to use twists in this hairstyle instead, because they are faster to do and look fairly similar. You can use either bobby pins, as I have done, or you can secure the twists with small clear elastic bands. {If you were to do cornrows, the hairstyle could be used for a week or so.}

This is a fun look that takes very little time to do. We like that it looks punk enough, kind of like the side of the head is shaved… only you do not have to commit to a shave to get the look! Also, depending on where you part your hair, you could use as few as three twists or as many as five… it is all up to you!
Here I have my daughter’s hair straight, but you could do this with curly or wavy hair as well!  I threw in a shot of me wearing this hairstyle, as well!  For an even edgier look, you could do this to both sides of the head!
Enjoy!  Don’t forget to tweet me at @CuteGirlHair and let me know if you would like to see Homecoming hairstyles or more Back-to-School hairstyles!
Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 1 alligator clip or large hair elastic, 4 small bobby pins {or 4 small clear elastics}, hairspray {if desired}.
 2.) This knotted headband style

It looks complex, but if you know how to do the first step of tying your shoelaces, then you can certainly do this braid! The pattern to the braid is essentially overlaying loose square knots!

  1. I started with the hair wet, and used a little pomade to control the flyways.
  2. You then take as small section next to the part, and divide it in two, and interlace them just like the first step of tying your shoe. I then did this two more times, each time adding the top strands to an alligator clip.
  3. After creating your third set of strands, bring the first two strands under the next two, and interlace them again just like the first step of tying your shoe.
  4. Repeat these steps until the braided headband has the look you want.
  5. Secure the end with a bobby pin and spritz with hairspray as desired.
  6. When the hair dries, the loops of the knots spread out a little and look absolutely gorgeous!
